It's been a slice! - A Letter From James

Today, we are proud to announce a new chapter with Jen and Jeremy Andrews. They are highly respected in the food truck world and a group we have been wanting to work with for years. It’s an exciting moment for us, and I want to explain why.

Since day one, we have absolutely been devoted to making food truck culture thrive and bringing people together. It’s what got us out of bed in the morning and kept us up late at night. It’s why YYCFoodTrucks exists.

We have pursued that mission like professional athletes do sport: never satisfied, always pressing, moving forward, looking for ways to get better.

I have always had vision for what food truck culture could be—and we aren’t there yet. It’s a vision I could only begin to understand after 8 years of making it  happen. I’m not just talking about creating fun event; I’m talking about improving the quality of the culture and the vision behind it—in ways that haven’t been done before.

I remember the day we launched. I picked up the Fiasco truck from the vinyl shop that morning because we were down to the wire to launch. It was drizzling outside on 8th ave, and no one was around. Our Facebook group had 400 saying they would come and check it out. No one really knew what they were doing, but we were keen to start. Pimentos Pizza, Jojos BBQ, Los Compadres, Perogy Boyz, Alley Burger, Fries and Dolls, and of course Fiasco.

Then it happened, 6000 people descended up on us and we knew we had something special. But it required a person to put their name on the line. For everything we do. To say it out loud.

I want to build a company that sets the standard for collaboration in an industry that only has 6 months to make money. I want us all to be leaders in the good food movement. I want us to inspire others to build community around Food Truck Culture.

We believed that you could grow a business as a community of people, with artful attention to detail and the customer experience, and get continuously better at the same time. That you don’t have to compromise. That the most important thing is doing it right. You need a mix of vision, tenacity, and patience. Dream BIG WORK HARD.

The new chapter with Jen and Jeremy gives YYCFT the opportunity to make it better once again—more events, new trucks, more talent on the team—and to foster more ideas, places for people to get to know each other better, to conspire with one another, to fall in love with Food Trucks.

We have built this business over the past 8 years on relationships with people like you. We have built it as a community. We call it the fellowship model, combining values from the good food world with tools from the 21st century.

And you have been at the heart of it. We could never have done what we do, the way that we did it, without your support. And we will never, ever forget that. (Thank you.)

So Join us in welcoming Jen and Jeremy to YYCFT 2.0!

Food Truck Love,

James and Brittany
